The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic stated that all the polling stations have been opened this morning at 7 am and would remain open until 8 pm. According to the Commission’s information, no particular irregularities have been noted and all of the preventive anti-epidemic measures have been implemented in accordance with the Instruction for the conduct of voting in the republic referendum called for 16 January 2022 in COVID-19 circumstances adopted by the Republic Electoral Commission. The Instruction ensures the protection of all the voters at the polling stations, as well as those who vote outside of polling stations, stressed Dimitrijevic.
Today, voting is taking place at 8,179 polling stations in Serbia and 10 polling stations abroad, said Dimitrijevic.
The Director of the Republic Statistical Office Dr Miladin Kovacevic shared the voter turnout data according to which 3.61% of eligible citizens had taken the vote in the Republic of Serbia by 10 am. 4.92% of eligible citizens had taken the vote in the region of Vojvodina, 2.88% in Sumadija and Western Serbia, 3.22% in the region of Southern and Eastern Serbia and 2.92% in the Belgrade district.
The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic urged the voters to exercise their right and vote in the referendum, and announced the next press conference for 1 pm.
