First Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

At the first regular press conference of the Republic Electoral Commission, held on 17 December 2023 at 8 am, the Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic said that today is the day of the parliamentary elections, elections for members of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, as well as elections in local self-government units. 6,500,666 voters can exercise their right to vote at a total of 8,273 polling stations, 29 of them in in facilities for the enforcement of criminal sanctions and 81 abroad in 35 states.

Before the opening of the polling stations, the polling boards ascertained that the received voting material was complete and correct and prepared the polling stations. All the polling stations were opened this morning at 7 am and the voting is being carried out without incident. Voters unable to vote at a polling station due to a debilitating illness, age or disability can do so outside of the polling station on the territory covered by said polling station, if they inform the local electoral commission by 11 am today and the voting will be conducted non-stop until 8 pm, said Vladimir Dimitrijevic.

Dimitrijevic went on to remind the bodies conducting the elections that it is their duty to keep the order at the polling stations and that electoral silence is still in force and will continue to be so until the polling stations are closed.

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission wished all the polling boards as well as the proclaimed electoral lists success and a lucky election to all the voters exercising their right on this day.
