Second Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic emphasised that at almost all the polling stations, voting is conducted in the best possible order. He pointed out that the spread of panic and pressure on the bodies conducting the elections by certain non-governmental organisations, especially through social networks, it is unacceptable

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission denied that there had been any irregularities at the randomly listed polling stations and appealed to all competent authorities that, if they notice irregularities or illegal actions, they should be sanctioned immediately. According to Dimitrijevic, the allegations about parallel lists, lack of control cards and alleged physical attacks on members of the polling boards have been checked and found to be incorrect and that the voting is proceeding in the best possible order and that the competent police departments have been informed of all possible problems.

Dimitrijevic reminded them that today there is a total of 8,273 polling stations for the vote and that the members of the polling boards had been elected at the proposal of all the parliamentary political parties, that is, the submitters of all the 18 proclaimed electoral lists, and that representatives of the opposition parties have the convincing majority there. He also reminded all the bodies conducting the elections, especially the members of the polling boards, that it is their duty to keep the order at the polling stations and that they are expected to conduct the electoral activities conscientiously and responsibly and not to undertake any actions that entail misdemeanor and criminal liability.
