At the 40th session held on 23 December 2023, the Republic Electoral Commission considered the demand of the COALITION SERBIA AGAINST VIOLENCE to call and conduct a new election for the Belgrade City Assembly.

At the session, it was established that the Republic Electoral Commission is not competent to act on the demand, but that it should react to the allegations of abuse of registration in the Single Electoral Roll. The Commission adopted the proposal of Chairperson Vladimir Dimitrijevic to send letters to the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the Ministry of the Interior with a request to check the registration in the Single Electoral Roll and the registration of residence for voters who were called to vote in the elections held on 17 December 2023, as evidence of the alleged election theft submitted to the Commission on 18 December 2023 by the COALITION SERBIA AGAINST VIOLENCE with a Request to call and conduct new elections for the Belgrade City Assembly. Information will be requested from the aforementioned ministries on the number of voters registered in the Single Electoral Roll by year of registration, i.e. the number of voters who have effective residence at the addresses specified in the contested calls to vote, as well as information on the effective residence of those voters determined by the Ministry of the Interior not to have the place of residence at the addresses on the call.

The session was chaired by Vladimir Dimitrijevic, Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission.
