The Republic Electoral Commission held the extraordinary press conference on 25 October 2026 at 8.15 pm.
The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission, Vladimir Dimitrijevic, stated that the polling stations were closed at 8 p.m., except in those places where voting continued if there was an interruption of more than an hour, as well as in those polling stations where voters were immediately in front of the polling station at the time of closing.
Dimitrijevic informed the public about the further procedure after the closing of polling stations and the determination of the results of the parliamentary elections. He pointed out that the law stipulates that voting results are determined by the polling boards at all the polling stations for each electoral list. After filling out the minutes, the members of the polling boards hand them over to the local election commissions and the minutes are scanned and their statistical processing is done, he said, adding that after that, they are immediately published on the web presentation of the Republic Electoral Commission.
Dimitrijevic explained that the results will be published successively, as they arrive, from the first processed polling station until the final results of the elections for National Assembly members are determined.
Vladimir Dimitrijevic stated that this has improved the way in which the public can follow the results of the elections with the aim that the citizens, media, participants and observers have the most complete insight into the results of the voting, which has been applied since the 2023 parliamentary elections, based on the ODIHR recommendations of 2022.
The press conference was also attended by the Secretary the Republic Electoral Commission Srdjan Smiljanic.
